This is what Stefanie Wrzolek says...

No fear of radioactivity
I have been interested in Eckert & Ziegler as an employer for quite some time, but the subject of radioactivity put me off at first. When the position of laboratory technician was advertised, I thought: I’ll just have a look at that now. It was a very nice conversation. I met with a lot of understanding and quickly realized that everything is done for the safety of the team here. We have specialists in radiation protection who ensure that the strict radiation protection requirements are always met. For me, one thing is certain: The low level of radioactivity that we work with very responsibly here is nothing to be afraid of.

Time to familiarize yourself with the work
Our team manufactures ruthenium applicators, which are used for the treatment of eye tumors. This is not entirely trivial, which is why we have a one-year training period. I have very fond memories of my training period, during which I learned many things very quickly, and my colleagues helped me a lot with other things. In general, I was welcomed with open arms. We have a great team spirit.

Freedom to organize tasks yourself
In our team of three in the lab, everyone can do everything. But everyone does what suits them best. I can organize my tasks as freely as possible throughout the day. Of course, there are regulations and deadlines that we have to adhere to, but otherwise we can organize our own time management. What counts in the end is that quality and performance are right and deadlines are met.
For the past year, in addition to my duties in the laboratory, I have been standing in for the colleague who is responsible for the production control of prostate seeds when she is not there. It was a whole new world for me at first, but I’m enjoying it. I like my work to be varied and enjoy the fact that there are so many tasks and that it’s never boring in our lab.
