This is what Jörg Balzer says...
Trust and confidence that helps you grow
I have been with the company for more than 26 years and have experienced this from the very beginning: You are trusted and people have confidence in your abilities. That was the case when I was offered the position of shift manager when we worked in shifts for a short time, even though I was the youngest member of the team. And that was also the case when I became team leader two years ago. This vote of confidence has allowed me to continue to grow. I’m a person who enjoys new tasks anyway. Even when the question arose as to whether I would like to become an instructor, I immediately made up my mind: I will do that. I enjoy working with young people and they don’t just learn from me. I also learn from them—when it comes to IT, for example.
People count here
There are four of us in our team. I take care of the organizational side of things, but I also work in the lab myself and am there for my people. It is important to me that everyone is doing well and that we work together harmoniously. There are no loud arguments here. We talk to each other in a friendly manner and if there is something to clarify, we do it in a matter-of-fact manner. This works very well. My people see the work and everyone does what they are good at. Even across divisions, one is well-disposed towards the other. People know each other and help each other. We don’t just manufacture anything here, but medical products for cancer therapy. And everyone at our company knows how important it is to patients that we meet delivery deadlines.
