Stephans Story
Take responsibility and enjoy freedom
I started at Eckert & Ziegler as a trainee IT specialist for system integration and was integrated into the team as a fully-fledged member right from the start. Even as a trainee, I was given responsibility and was able to set up the new IT infrastructure at other locations, for example. My trainer had a lot of confidence in me and I was able to take on responsibility for important projects early on. I now train trainees myself. Although, we actually do it as a team, but I’m responsible for it. And that’s what I like to be. I pass on the appreciation and trust that was shown to me at Eckert & Ziegler from the very beginning to young people today.
Thinking and deciding together
As a system administrator, I am always working on exciting projects and am constantly developing myself further. That’s also the beauty of the IT profession: The fact that IT is always changing means that you are constantly updating your knowledge. If I have a good idea about how processes or systems can be better designed, or even the integration of a completely new topic, then I can also introduce and implement it. Not just working through what has been decided but realizing a bit of self-fulfillment by thinking and shaping things yourself. And when everything finally works the way I imagined it would and other employees work with my solution, that makes me proud in a way. In our team, we help each other and provide support where it is needed. After all, you’re not on your own when things get tight, you can rely on your colleagues.
Sense and security
It is important to me to work for a company whose products and values I can stand behind. Of course, I want and need to earn money, but not at any price. I also personally stand behind what Eckert & Ziegler does. In addition, the company has been on a steady upward trend since it was founded. It is concentrated diagonally, i.e., it is broadly diversified and thus crisis-proof to a certain extent. This means security, including for your own job and life plan.
Foundation
Computer systems are indispensable in today’s world. They simply have to function reliably at all times. It is my vocation to ensure that this is the case. In this way, my work ensures that others can do their work. My IT colleagues are therefore a kind of “heroes in the background” for me.
